The Australian Financial Review Praised At Publishing Awards
The longstanding and definitive survey of wealth in Australia, the Financial Review Rich List, was last night recognised for its excellence in publishing at the annual Mumbrella Publish Awards.
The Australian Financial Review Magazine was awarded ‘Special Edition of the Year for its Rich List edition, which was published in June, while The Australian Financial Review was also named the Mumbrella Publish Business Publication of the Year.
The Mumbrella Publish jury said: “The Rich List edition represented the highest quality in writing, photography and design reflecting a continued pursuit of excellence for this anticipated annual.”
They also praised the “first class editorial, arresting photography, layout and words matched by a strategy that doubled down on the Rich List brand”.
“It’s hard to exceed expectations on a publication that always delivers but the AFR succeeded with outstanding photography, quality journalism and great execution,” the jury concluded.
In June, the Rich List named paper and packaging magnate Anthony Pratt as Australia’s richest man with wealth tracking at $15 billion.
The Rich List has tracked Australia’s wealthiest people since 1983 when it was first published in BRW and limited to 100 people. It expanded to 200 people the following year when the total value of Australia’s wealthiest individuals and families was just $7 billion – and now that figure exceeds $330 billion, up from $282 billion in 2018.
Commenting on the Financial Review’s win as Business Publication of the Year, the jury said: “The AFR has continued to be the premier national business publication. It continues to lead the pack in business coverage and has continued to thrive in a paywall world. The quality of the publication has been one of the key driving factors for this and the AFR continues to be the most influential voice in business.”
