Rivalries run deep in NRL multicultural round on Nine
Rivalries run deep in NRL multicultural round on Nine
The biggest and the best local derbies live and free. It’s a Queenslander’s delight on Sunday afternoon with a triple-header of NRL and NRLW in Brisbane
A fresh chapter in the legendary rivalries of rugby league will be written this week with three fierce match-ups across Multicultural Round in NRL on Nine, LIVE and FREE on Channel 9 and 9Now.
At 7.30pm on Hisense Thursday Night Footy, new Sharks coach Craig Fitzgibbon gets his first taste of the passion that fires up the local derby against the Dragons.
The Sharks took down the Eels last week with an after-the-siren conversion by star recruit Nicho Hynes, and will need all of his tricks to contain a mean Dragons pack and rookie fullback sensation Tyrell Sloan.
In Macca’s Friday Night Footy at 7.30pm, all the grudge-match headlines and hostilities come alive when the Roosters and Rabbitohs square off for the first time since Latrell Mitchell’s ugly tackle on Joey Manu ended both of their seasons in 2021.
The Rabbitohs are winless in 2022 and would love nothing more than getting one over their most hated adversaries, while the Roosters want to inflict their own form of scoreboard punishment to atone for Mitchell’s hit on Manu.
Both clubs have been playing down the clash, but expect on-field fireworks as the biggest and oldest feud in the game continues.
Chemist Warehouse Sunday Footy produces Queensland’s No. 1 rivalry when the Broncos-Cowboys rodeo headlines a triple-treat of live NRL and NRLW action from 12.00pm in Brisbane.
New Broncos captain Adam Reynolds will make his home debut at Suncorp Stadium, aiming to win the hearts of their fans with a victory over their biggest rivals in the Sunshine State. The Cowboys will be out to spoil the party with their dynamic one-two punch combination of steamrolling Jason Taumalolo and electrifying Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, “The Hammer”.
A highly entertaining NRLW season continues when Queensland’s Titans and Broncos women’s outfits feature in a Round 5 Sunday double-header before the Broncos-Cowboys NRL clash.
In the first game, the Titans, on the cusp of securing a finals berth, meet the winless Knights.
In game two, the road to a fourth consecutive premiership for the Broncos takes a tough turn when they meet the Eels – who are genuine title contenders – for the first time ever in the NRLW competition.
