Nine’s Olympic and Paralympic Games year is officially out of the starting blocks, with the Opening Ceremony of the Winter Youth Olympic Games Gangwon 2024 in South Korea this Friday, January 19 screening live and free on the 9Network.
Available on 9Go! or to stream on 9Now, the 12-day competition featuring 1900 young athletes from 70 countries, viewers won’t miss a moment of the most thrilling and inspiring sporting moments from Team Australia.
Just the fourth Winter Youth Olympic Games to take place, Gangwon is near Seoul and will see athletes compete across seven sports, 15 disciplines and 81 events.
With daily highlight packages of all the action on 9Go! or 9Gem, and 9Now – as well as Australia-specific highlights on 9Now – Gangwon 2024 will see some of Australia’s most talented teenage elite athletes strive for sporting greatness.
Australia is expected to field a team of 53 athletes competing in biathlon, ice hockey, short track speed skating, figure skating, alpine skiing, cross country skiing, freestyle skiing and snowboard.
In an Australian first, Kryshtof Pradeaux and Peyton Bellamy-Martins will compete in the figure skating pairs event, while Sienna Kaczmarczyk has been selected for the women’s figure skating singles event – the first Australian woman to compete in this event since the Innsbruck 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games.

The Winter Youth Olympic Games Gangwon 2024 will screen:

- The Closing Ceremony is on 9Gem live and exclusive on Thursday, February 1 at 9.55pm AEDT
- Daily highlights show will be on 9Go! from Sunday January 21 to Friday, February 2 at 1pm AEDT & on 9Now each every morning from Sunday, January 21
- 9Now will live stream the Youth Olympic Channel, live from Gangwon daily starting from Saturday January 20 from 12PM AEDT
