More Than 14 Million Viewers Tune Into The Ashes Series To Date
A total of 14,167,646 unique viewers across Australia have tuned into the first four Test Matches of The Magellan 2017-2018 Ashes Series to date, with the fifth and final Test in Sydney starting tomorrow, January 4th.
8,403,925 Australians tuned in throughout the five days of Nine’s broadcast of the Fourth Ashes Test between Australia and England in Melbourne.
Across the five metropolitan capital cities, the cumulative reach across the five days (ie: the total number of individuals who watched any part of any day’s play) was 5.987 million, representing 35 per cent of the metropolitan population.
In regional Australia, the cumulative reach across the five days was 2.417 million, representing 31 per cent of the regional population.
The iconic Boxing Day test saw a fiery England side play to a draw with Australia in a match which featured some individual batting brilliance, amid some periods of extended rain delays.
The highest rating session across the five days of play at the MCG was the third session of play on Day One (Tuesday, December 26), which secured a peak audience of 2.221 million viewers, with an average of 1.857 million viewers, as audiences tuned in to see watch the Aussie batting lineup putting in some exciting performances.
Each of the third sessions of play achieved an average national audience of 1.595 million across the four sessions (Tuesday to Saturday).
Each of the second sessions of play achieved an average national audience of 1.353 million across the four sessions (Tuesday to Saturday).
Each of the first sessions of play achieved an average national audience of 1.041 million across the five sessions (Tuesday to Saturday).
