As Team Australia’s gold rush continues, Nine’s broadcast of the Olympic Games Paris 2024 has now reached 14.8 million Australians. While 9Now has delivered record audiences across the first four days of the Games, Channel 9 and 9Gem are the powerhouse that is delivering almost 75% of the total audience.  

As the competition enters its fifth day, Nine’s 24/7 coverage of Olympics on Channel 9 and 9Gem has reached 12.2 million Australians, once again proving that television is the best way to build reach at speed, bringing the nation together as our athletes strive for Olympic glory.  

Nine’s broadcast of Paris 2024 has shown the combination of live broadcast television, live streaming and on demand television – Total Television – is the most powerful way to reach audiences at scale. It delivers a better ROI than any other platform and it makes other channels work harder.

On Day 3, prime time on Channel 9 and 9Gem delivered a 61.6% share of People 25-54 and a massive 67% share of People 16-39 across the 5 City Metro, illustrating the power of live broadcast television to deliver audiences at scale.

Days 1-3 has achieved a National Total TV Reach of 14.8 million, with Nine delivering its highest reach in VOZ history across live broadcast, live streaming and on demand television.

The Olympics is delivering a powerful lead in to Nine’s 6pm news bulletin with 9News delivering its highest daily audiences this year on Day 3. 9News delivered a Total TV audience of 1.6m and its highest 9Now audience ever with a massive 212,000 people watching on 9Now.

Nine’s Chief Sales Officer, Michael Stephenson, said: “The Olympic Games are proving the power of Total TV. The audiences are huge. No one can argue that the most powerful place to advertise is across live broadcast, live streaming and on demand television.” 

“The live broadcast audiences are the foundation, delivering 75% of our Total TV audience. 9Now is delivering incremental reach of close to 20% and 50% of our 9Now audience is under 40. Nine and 9Now are the super couple. The best of broadcast and the best of digital.”

“The best part of this is, this isn’t an Olympics thing. This is a television thing. Total Television is here. If you buy the platforms together it will deliver better results than social video. If you are an advertiser, you should be increasing your investment in live broadcast, increasing your investment in live streaming and increasing your investment in on demand TV. Those that are, are getting better business results.”
