Exciting New Lifestyle Series: Barbeque Bromance and a Vintage Pinup Star
From turning a backyard BBQ hobby into a booming business to discovering a passion for pin-up culture and vintage aircraft, My Way, Nine’s new lifestyle series, introduces a variety of inspirational Aussies from this Saturday at 12pm.
First up, narrator Tim Blackwell introduces the owners of Barbeque Mafia on the opening night of their first restaurant. After recently returning from Austin, Texas, where they took honours in a Texas brisket competition, the boys are keen to share the success of their hobby with a local crowd, recreating a family-friendly, outdoor dining experience back home in Brisbane.
Next we catch up with horse lover Amanda Powell. This long-distance rider trains 60 hours a week with three different horses while juggling a full-time job. With a passion for horses that began when she was a child, she competes in endurance races of up to 160 kilometres.
Nature enthusiast Innes Larkin, the owner of Mt Barney Lodge, situated in the stunning Scenic Rim Region of south-east Queensland, takes us on one of the daily guided tours and climbs with his guests, and shares his passion for the Mountain he’s dedicated his life to.
Lastly, we head back to the spirit of the 1940’s to encounter The Flying Pinup, Kelly Forbes. She got hooked on pinup culture high school and has gone on to be a runner-up in the Miss Pinup International contest. Kelly is a big hit at vintage air shows getting her glamorous photo taken, pinup-style, alongside classic warbirds. She’s also passionate about women in aviation.
