The superstars of tennis are set to sizzle in the Australian Open, with exclusive coverage of the first Grand Slam tournament of 2022 on Nine.

From Monday, January 17 until Sunday, January 30, the best matches and biggest moments of the Australian Open will be broadcast live and free on Channel 9 and 9Gem.

And on 9Now, tennis fans will be able to watch every point of every match on every court, ensuring Australians get the best tennis experience available, anywhere, on a device of their choosing.

With this year’s tournament wide open, viewers will have the best seat in the house as a combined field of 256 players compete for the Norman Brookes Challenge Cup (men’s singles) and the Daphne Akhurst Memorial Cup (women’s singles).

Rafael Nadal is in fine touch after claiming the Melbourne Summer Set title without dropping a set. Will he become the first player in history to win 21 Grand Slam titles?

World No. 11 Felix Auger-Aliassime has stormed into calculations after leading Canada to an ATP Cup win in Sydney, but can he hold off the higher-ranked Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Zverev or Stefanos Tsitsipas for the title?

Our world No. 1, Ash Barty, has just claimed her 14th WTA Tour title at the Adelaide International, a strong warning to her Australian Open rivals. But after taking out the Melbourne Summer Set women’s competition, will Romania’s Simona Halep be able to beat Barty on her home court?

There is a strong offering from the Aussie men’s contingent this year, led by Alex de Minaur, our highest ranked singles player (No. 34) who captained Australia in the 2022 ATP Cup. Also fighting for glory will be James Duckworth (ranked No. 49) and Alexei Popyrin (No. 61) who claimed his first ATP Title in Singapore last year.

John Millman (No. 72) will be hoping to regain the form that saw him beat Roger Federer to reach the quarter-finals of the 2018 US Open. Australia also has Jordan Thompson (No. 75) and the brilliant and mercurial Nick Kyrgios, now ranked No. 93, who is one of only two players to win their first match against the big three of tennis – Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.

For the Aussie women, alongside Barty, Ajla Tomljanovic comes into contention after reaching the quarter-finals at Wimbledon last year.

Nine’s team of hosts and expert commentators, led by the unmatched resources of the network’s Wide World of Sports, will take viewers through every game, set and match.

On Channel 9, the hosts are James Bracey, Roz Kelly and Tony Jones, while over on 9Gem, Nick McArdle, Seb Costello and Sam McClure will host our broadcast.

Commentary throughout the tournament will be provided by Jim Courier, Todd Woodbridge, Lleyton Hewitt, Jelena Dokic, Sam Smith, Alicia Molik, Dylan Alcott, Sam Groth, Casey Dellacqua, Tom Rehn, and new team member Darren Cahill.

Additional off-court reporting will come from Alicia Loxley, Clint Stanaway, Lauren Phillips, Madeline Slattery and Danika Mason.

And Andy Lee returns with another hilarious instalment of Guess Whom, where he takes on tennis champions with a unique twist on a classic board game.
