Schedule highlights: Opening Ceremony to light up the world ahead of Paralympic Games Day 1
The Paris 2024 Paralympics Games will officially begin live and free on the 9Network and 9Now, when the Opening Ceremony lights up the 17th Summer Games and Day 1 of competition.
Australian team flag bearers Madison de Rozario and Brenden Hall will lead our team of 158 for the Opening Ceremony, when over 4,400 para-athletes from 180 countries competing across 22 sports will make their way along the Champs-Elysees towards the Place de la Concorde in the centre of Paris.
Dylan Alcott, Sylvia Jeffreys and Annabelle Willams will cover all the colour of the Opening Ceremony from one of the most beautiful cities on the planet, live on Channel 9 and 9Now from 3.30am AEST, with a replay available at 12.00pm AEST.
Day 1 of competition begins at 5.00pm AEST and is headed up by Para swimming, Wheelchair Rugby and Wheelchair Basketball.
In the pool Alexa Leary, Rowan Crothers and Lakeisha ‘Lucky’ Patterson will spearhead several gold medal chances for the green and gold when heats and finals are conducted.
The Steelers Aussie Wheelchair Rugby team face Great Britain in their opening match in primetime at 7.30pm AEST, and the Australian Men’s Wheelchair Basketball team face the orange storm of the Netherlands from 5.30am AEST on Friday morning.
All the action is available on a curated Paralympics channel across Channel 9HD and 9GemHD, with every moment streamed on 9Now LIVE as well as replays, highlights and explainers.
