9News Queensland ratings reign continues
9News Queensland has retained its long reigning news dominance after officially winning the 2023 OzTAM ratings year.
Presented by Queensland’s longest serving co-presenters, Andrew Lofthouse and Melissa Downes, 9News Queensland Monday to Friday 6.00pm-7.00pm has won 21 weeks out of the 40-week calendar, securing an average audience of 162,700 and boasting a remarkable Total People Share of 46.1 per cent.
Melissa Downes said: “The continued support of our viewers is the real reward and we’re grateful that they continue turning to 9News. This year has really been one for the books. First, clinching the prestigious Kennedy Award for 9News Queensland’s podcast, Hannah’s Story, and now topping the ratings once again. It’s a wonderful feeling.
“This success for the combined efforts of our news team is so well deserved, and what a fantastic way to commemorate 15 years behind the 9News Queensland desk. It makes me very proud.”
Andrew Lofthouse said: “The unwavering commitment to our nightly bulletins and special 9News presentations is one of the things that makes 9News so enduringly successful. In this newsroom everyone contributes, and this remarkable achievement is definitely the result of a team effort.”
This ratings victory comes as 9News Gold Coast, presented by Paul Taylor and Eva Milic, continues its supremacy since clinching the ratings year in August, alongside 9News Queensland 4.00pm, presented by Aislin Kriukelis and Alison Ariotti, which has clocked up 31 triumphant weeks in the OzTAM calendar.
9News Queensland Director of News, Amanda Paterson, said: “What an outstanding achievement for an exceptional team. Driven by our unwavering passion to keep Queensland informed, the 9News Queensland newsroom has left no stone unturned, exploring every story with dedication.
“From the recent special presentation, Voice for Victims, to the groundbreaking and award-winning Hannah’s Story podcast, which marked a very significant milestone for 9News, we take immense pride in the consistent choice of Queenslanders to turn to 9News Queensland.
“Looking ahead to 2024, I’m excited for the team to foster this connection with our audience through even more innovative approaches, and I’m confident that our loyal viewers feel the same.”
The 2023 OzTAM television survey concludes on December 2.
